Children, Youth, and Families

Children’s Education

A well-rounded Christian education is a foundation upon which a child's life can develop. First Presbyterian Church offers programs for children of all ages.

Our Sunday School curriculum is devoted to the major Bible stories and characters, and involves activities, games, and songs that are intended to make the stories and characters relevant to each child.

Children are grouped by grade: Kindergarten and 1st Grade; 2nd-4th Grade; and 5th-7th Grade. Children are welcomed in the gymnasium for Sunday School after the Passing of the Peace in the 11:00 o’clock service. They can be met again immediately after worship near the gymnasium. Sunday School is offered  late September through late June. All children are encouraged and welcome to attend.

Email the Co-Directors of Children, Youth and Families if you have questions about Sunday School, or to return completed forms to enroll your child or volunteer to help teach.

Youth and Teenagers

Holy Mackerels Youth Group

Youth, 6-graders through young adults who have graduated from high school, are invited to join us every-other Friday. As the year progresses we will be turning a fun social event for young people into a mission project that reaches out into the community and strengthens it. Complete a form to sign up in the Fall. Friends and newcomers are always welcome!

Youth Band NEW!

In this new offering, 5th-12th Graders are welcome to join the Youth Band, which will meet every Sunday before worship and will be led by Andrew Leonard. Come sing, play an instrument, learn how to run sound, or all of the above!

The Parables Project NEW!

Following passing of the peace, students from 7th-12th grades are welcome to join Eric Thomas and young adults from the Youthful Fellowship Ministry in creative explorations of the parables that will engage your five senses. (7th graders are encouraged to try out both The Parables Project and Sunday School to choose the program that fits them best!)

Confirmation Class

Confirmation Class is for those who want to learn more about their faith journey and those who may be interested in becoming full members of First Presbyterian Church.
